Session 5 - Step 1

Lure around the obstacle

Get the basics in one direction first

Standing by the pole (or whatever obstacle you are using), say 'Round' and lure your dog around the pole. Praise as they go around and reward when they get to you. Take your time and make sure your dog is following your hand as you go around.

We want to set up your footwork so that your dog can use your body language as a guide for what is expected as they go through. When guiding your dog around or over an obstacle. We step forward with the leg on the same side as your dog and obstacle and guide with the hand on that side also. This will help them understand which direction around an obstacle they should go.

Step 2 - Add distance to the pull back.

Bringing your dog out of the behaviour with more distance.
