Session 3 - Step 6

Move the retrieve ball out of sight

Your dog should not trust there is something to find

We increase the distance and the angle of the curve slightly. This puts the ball just out of sight for your dog. Make sure the gaps in the barrier are not so big that they easily attract your dog to try that direction rather than head straight along the path as before.

As always, start your dog at the start position from a sit, practice with the ball on each of the holes on the retrieve box and get a polite retrieve to hand.

Increase the angle of the path.

We want to make sure your dog does not take shortcuts.

If your dog is cutting corners or hunting for the ball.

Reduce the distance and gaps in barrier.
