One-to-one training
Group work does not suit every dog or every family. Maybe you have unusual or changeable working hours, mobility issues, family members who need you to be there at all times, or other reasons. One-to-one work also means that the work you are doing with your dog is fully tailored to you and your situation.
Depending on the case, either training at your home or in our training field just outside of Prosperous, Kildare, may be more applicable and will be discussed with you.
To begin our one-to-one training journey, we start with a Training Consult. This is a 90 minute session where we get to know you and your dog better, and discuss what you want to work on. This allows us to design a full training plan to best suit you and your dog's needs.
Address the issues appropriately
Whether we are looking at leash walking, jumping up, or recall, each dog learns in a slightly different way. Academic learning theory holds throughout, but how it is implemented varies from dog to dog and family to family. So it is often best to tweak how we work on a specific issue based on the dog, their personality, learning history, and learning style.
Tailored training plan
While it may feel like you 'just' need to work on leash walking, for example, often there are also a large number of supporting behaviours required. For example, does your dog get distracted at cars, smells, children, dogs, etc. Are they already good at looking for your attention, or do they just pull like crazy to get where they want to go? It is important that what we teach your dog is applicable, safe, and robust in daily life.
Between sessions progression
During your coursework we will ask you to upload video snippets of your practice, so that we can ensure you are progressing in the right direction. If there are issues, we can tweak what you are doing and, if not, we can often get you moving ahead further quicker. This ensures faster progression than when having to wait until you see your trainer again in person.
