Puppy Consult

The Puppy Consult is a private session, just your family and the trainer focusing on your problem. This is a standalone, one hour long session at your home. In this session we focus purely on puppy problems such as nipping and biting, toileting, separation, and barking. We do not get started on basic obedience in this class.

Behaviour Consult

If your dog is having behavioural issues it is very important that we get to the underlying reasons for them rather than merely addressing the outward symptoms. Doing that runs the risk of masking the problem and creating side effect behaviours that then add to the workload.

Example behaviour issues include: barking and lunging at people or dogs; bites to dogs or people; inappropriate chasing/hunting; excessive fear; noise fears/phobias; touch sensitivity; difficulty visiting the vets; and so on. If you are unsure send us an email with a rough description of the issues and we can let you know if a consult is the best way forward. 

Our behaviour consult is a four part process that best helps us understand the issues your dog is having and how best to resolve them. This process consists of:

1. An online assessment form where we learn about your dog's day to day life along with the problems you are having. We will ask for a copy of your dog's medical history and some simple videos of day to day life to better understand your dog.

2. A 60 minute remote session. In this session we put safety and management strategies in place to prevent the issues getting any worse. We also get started on some work relating to communication between you and your dog and helping them to learn to ask for help rather than deal with things by themselves.

3. A 60 minute in-person session. This may be at your home or in our training field just outside of Prosperous, depending on the outcome of our remote session. In this session we tweak any of the management strategies that require it and get started on some simple training to see how your dog likes to learn best. 

4. A 20-30 minute image and video gathering session. Ideally this is done the same day as part 3. In this session we gather video and photographic data of your dog in motion and in static positions. Analysing this in conjunction with the behavioural data allows us to understand whether there may be a physical component to the behaviour.
   

This process costs €250 in total and allows us to design a full training and behaviour modification plan to best suit you and your dog. This plan may include one to one sessions, group work and/or remote work. 

Private Sessions

In some cases, working on leash walking or recall at home is preferable. We do not do this work as standalone sessions rather as a group of sessions to ensure the best results. These are typically run as 30 or 45 minute sessions ideally every 1-2 weeks.

Some people would like to focus on a specific topic such as scentwork or focus and attention work. We will do an Initial Consult for this, a one hour session, to fully define what you want to cover and how best to cover it.
